When you decide to buy a property in Spain, you face the challenge of adapting your newly acquired flat or house to your own needs and expectations. In Spain, it is advisable to do this with the help of an experienced expert, but you can also try searching for the furniture and accessories you are interested in on your own. If you have an explorer’s spirit, you will appreciate La Fabrica de Hielo.
In search of inspiration
La Fábrica de Hielo is an unusual place that combines the functions of an art gallery, an antique shop and a space for various events. It specialises in the sale of unique furniture, antiques and decoration, offering a variety of services related to architecture, interior design and decoration. It has hosted, among others, an exhibition of works by Jordi Mollà, Spanish actor and painter, featuring his abstract paintings inspired by nature. La Fábrica de Hielo also offers the possibility of renting out its space for photo shoots, filming and hosting events. In addition, there is an option to rent furniture for film productions and photo shoots.
La Fábrica de Hielo is… a former warehouse where an ice factory operated years ago. It has now been home to a concept shop for a few years now – a local mecca for all fans of luxury interior design, combining character and antique chic. La Fábrica de Hielo is located in Guadalmina – near Marbella.
A place with an unusual history
As the owners emphasise, when they acquired the property and created this atmosphere-soaked space, they did not want to lose the magic of the place. Today, it is a unique spot on the map of Marbella, which is appreciated by many for its quality and the preservation of historical elements – original fragments of the façade, the ceiling or the old ventilation ducts left intact. In the 1950s, the current building was an ice factory, one of the important elements of the industrial infrastructure that developed around Hacienda Guadalmina. Its location at the foot of the N-340 road, made it possible to supply the transports that made the journey between the ports of Malaga and Algeciras.
Today, furniture and decorative objects from centuries ago coexist here with contemporary design elements. The result is a unique symbiosis in an industrial – post-industrial environment. The uniqueness of the place is guaranteed by the 40 years of experience of its creator, Jose Luis Rodriguez de la Iglesia. He, together with his son Jose Miguel Rodriguez and interior designer Andres Sauceda, were responsible for bringing this concept shop to life. They had previously set up two other companies: Collection World and Volubilis.
The originator of La Fábrica de Hielo is the aforementioned José Luis Rodríguez de la Iglesia. He began his career as an antiques dealer in Valladolid in the 1970s and was later active in Marbella, setting up Collection World in 1990 and Volubilis in 1996. José Luis Rodríguez de la Iglesia is supported by his son, José Miguel Rodríguez. A graduate in art history from the University of Valladolid and an expert in international trade, he has been involved in the art world from an early age, thanks to his father’s passion and interests. He joined the family company Collection World in 1999.
Stylish range
Today, La Fábrica de Hielo is more than 1,500square metres of space where you will find antiques, objects and decorative trinkets – created over the last few decades or even centuries! The shop’s range includes furniture, furnishings and interior design items – rugs, ceramics, lighting or sculptures – as well as garden furniture, which no stylish property on the Costa del Sol can do without.
The shop currently employs many specialists in areas such as architecture, design and interior design. Therefore, you can be sure that, in collaboration with them, you will definitely furnish your house or flat in Spain in a truly unique way. If, on the other hand, you don’t have time for renovation and interior design, you can use the services of Agnes Inversiones. Not only will we take care of the entire process of buying a property in Spain, but we will also organise and supervise the renovation, the finishing touches and help you quickly adapt and settle into your new place.
