The ties linking Poland and Spain are getting stronger every year. They have not only a tourist dimension, but also a business dimension. One of the most dynamically developing areas of cooperation is the property market. Poles are asserting themselves more and more strongly in Spain, investing in houses and flats.
Real estate an important element of economic cooperation
On 26 May 2023, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Spain in GdaĆsk. The gala event was attended by many people associated with Polish-Spanish political and economic relations, including: Spanish Ambassador to Poland – Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller, Honorary Consul of Spain in Gdansk – Maciej Dobrzyniecki, former Polish Ambassador to Spain – Ryszard Schnepf, Vice President of the Management Board of Bank Santander – Juan de Porras and Agnieszka Kostrzewa, founder of Agnes Inversiones – the largest Polish real estate agency on the Costa del Sol.
The gala was accompanied by two panel discussions with named participants. The first focused on political relations between Poland and Spain. The second concerned mutual economic relations – paying particular attention to the growing activity of Polish investors in the Spanish real estate market on the Costa del Sol.
Spain is becoming an increasingly popular destination for property investment. The activity of Poles in the Spanish market is constantly increasing, as illustrated by statistics. While as recently as 2012, the share of Polish investors was so small that it was not included in the rankings, by 2022, our compatriots had already risen to the TOP 10 nationalities most frequently investing in Spanish real estate.
Why are Poles investing in property in Spain?
There are a number of reasons for this, not least in purely business terms. Firstly, Spain is a country with a stable economic situation, which provides investment certainty and security. The high quality of life, the climate, the landscape and the attractiveness of the place are also not without significance. All this makes property in Spain a popular choice not only for investment, but also as a holiday home or even as a permanent residence.
What is more, the Spanish property market is very attractive because of its great diversity. There is something for everyone – from flats in the larger cities to villas on the first coastline. All this translates into an ever-growing interest among Poles in the Spanish property market. All indications are that 2023 could bring further records.
