Marbella is not just about beautiful beaches and historic sites. The city also offers excellent conditions for golf and tennis. Sports enthusiasts will also have plenty to see: skiing competitions in the Sierra Nevada or world-class tennis tournaments.
Marbella is the perfect place to live, here you can feel the true Spanish atmosphere of holidays, maniana. People dreaming of a house in Spain start their search with this Andalusian city. There are many good reasons for this!
Golf courses
This is one of Marbella’s greatest assets! Green stretches of golf courses from which you can admire the beautiful seascapes (e.g. Alcaidesa Golf Links). Superbly prepared golf courses with excellent infrastructure attract players from all over the world. What’s important is that they are also open outside the summer season, something you won’t find in other regions of Europe!
Marbella has a friendly microclimate, provided by the La Concha mountain that shields it from the mainland. The weather is also great for sport, with over 300 days of sunshine a year and at least 14 degrees in winter! The local clubs are the perfect places to practice and admire golf tournaments. The season never ends here: restaurants or clubs in Puerto Banus and attractions for families with children are open all year round. You can stay not only in a hotel, but also in luxury villas with swimming pools and flats for rent. Golf devotees also choose to buy a property in Spain adjacent to or overlooking a golf course.
If you want to combine golf with admiring the sea views, then you should head to one of the following resorts:
18-hole courses:
Golf courses for professionals, experienced players and of the highest world standard:
Car racing
Fans of fast cars and top-level sporting excitement come to Andalusia to the Ascari Circuit. It is located just over an hour’s drive from Marbella and is considered one of the most spectacular race tracks in the world. It is 5425 metres long and has 26 corners.
The club’s owners ensure complete discretion for customers who enjoy extreme high-speed driving. Their idea was to create a place where every racing driver can test their skills in a comfortable and discreet manner. It costs between €30 and €150 to drive one lap in a GT car. At Cuba Ascari, you can also stay longer, have lunch in a local restaurant and relax. See more.
Tennis courts
This is another Marbella attraction that draws players and tourists. The Andalucia Open tournament is played here in the spring. Perhaps the greatest proof of the class of the courts here is the fact that Novak Djokovic himself trains and lives here. Investors are buying villas and flats in Marbella for the tennis tourists and fans during tournaments.
For all customers who appreciate a form of active leisure with a tennis racket in hand, we recommend courts such as:
- Puente Romano Tennis Club
- Manolo Santana Tennis
- Royal Tennis Club
White madness
Finally, a treat for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. There is something for everyone in the Sierra Nevada resort, about a 2.5h drive from Marbella. Ski fans like to go to Sierra Nevada to watch sporting competitions – the World Freestyle Skiing Championships, for example, were held here.
You set off to the slopes from the village of Pradollano. From the top of the Pico Veleta mountain, at 3282 metres above sea level, the highest slopes start, so in between runs you can enjoy not only the mountain scenery but also the view of the sea! The Sierra Nevada resort offers a variety of pistes, both for beginners and for professional skiers, such as in the Sulayr Superpark in the Loma de Dilar area.
If you want to stay in Sierra Nevada for a longer period of time in Pradollano you can rent a flat or stay in one of the luxury hotels. See more about Sierra Nevada.
