Sabores de Polonia. Discover Polish restaurants and products in Andalusia

There is a growing Polish community on the Costa del Sol, and there are also two Polish restaurants. One resembles a beach bar, in the other you will eat a polonised version of tapas. You will also find native products in several Eastern European shops – in Marbella, Malaga and Seville.

El Polaco

A restaurant (they call themselves a bar) overlooking the marina, and on the menu instead of calamari… pork chops with meringue. In Fuengirola, located between Marbella and Malaga, the restaurant El Polaco has been open for a few months.

There are several typical Polish dishes, including many types of pierogi and delicious potato pancakes with goulash or mushroom sauce. As far as soups are concerned, the Spanish weather is obliging, so the regular item on the menu is not the warming sour soup or broth, but the Polish equivalent of gazpacho, i.e. a cooler.

The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Don’t come at the Polish early lunchtime, as it opens at 2:30 p.m. The friendly menu with photos is also available in Spanish.

Address: Fuengirola, Puerto Deportivo Fuengirola, 10

Sal y Pimienta

In Poland, we are greeted with bread and salt, and in Frigiliana, to the east of Malaga, with salt and pepper(sal y pimienta means salt and pepper in Spanish). In this restaurant, they serve Polish cuisine in a Spanish interpretation. For example, a plate of tapas, including pierogi, fried cabbage or kielbasa with onion. You’ll also find Polish classics on the menu, such as żurek or potato pancake with goulash.

A visit to Sal y Pimienta can be combined with a beach holiday in the town of Nerja, one of the most popular and beautiful – certainly in terms of nature – resorts in all of Andalusia.

Address: Frigiliana, Plaza de las Tres Culturas, 1

Delis’es

A grocery shop offering a very wide range of products from Poland or Ukraine. You can buy there flour, groats, oils or tinned food, but also much more sophisticated products.

Delis’es is located in the town of Calahonda – about halfway between Fuengirola and Marbella. The shop also accepts orders by phone and online – via WhatsApp – with home delivery within the Costa del Sol. For purchases over €50, delivery is free.

Address: Calahonda, Calle Beamar de Calahonda, premises 8, CP 29649 (next to Lidl)

Capriccio Express Ucrania

As the name suggests, it is a Ukrainian shop, but it has a lot of Polish products on offer: drinks, sweets, spices, dairy products. Especially products from the latter category, such as cottage cheese and thick cream, are not at all available on every corner in Spain. The shop is located in the very centre of Malaga – in the Soho district, between the old town and the port.

Address: Malaga, Calle Trinidad Grund, 7

INTER – Ukranian Store

Another Ukrainian grocery shop where you also get a lot of Polish products, including dairy products, cold cuts or alcohol. There are also plenty of Ukrainian delicacies available. The shop’s location is a big advantage – Inter is close to the Parque de la Represa, adjacent to Marbella’s historic centre.

Address: Marbella, Calle Doha, 11

Alimentacion Maria-Dalina

You will also get Polish products at the Romanian shop in Seville. The Maria-Dalina market is located near La Plata station, in the eastern part of the city, quite far from the centre. The shop offers a home delivery service for customers living within a radius of 80 kilometres.

Address: Seville, Avenida los Gavilanes, 66
