Prestigious location
Marbella’s second place in the overall ranking is not the only accolade the city has received. The same portal named Marbella the most exclusive and prestigious destination in the whole of Europe, ahead of Monte Carlo and the Portuguese Madeira, among others!
What did Marbella do to deserve this accolade? No doubt factors such as:
- Excellent golfing infrastructure – in Marbella the golf season lasts almost all year round, which is unique in Europe. It is hard to find a place with better prepared golf courses where amateurs and professionals alike can play. - A haven for luxury yachts – we are talking about the prestigious Puerto Banús, which attracts stars, celebrities and businessmen from all over the world. This prestigious neighbourhood, with its marina and boutiques of top designers, is a must-walk during your stay in Marbella.
- An insane gastronomic offer – the streets of Marbella are filled with excellent restaurants with traditional Andalusian cuisine and places where top chefs from around the world serve their dishes. You can read more about the restaurant offer in this post on our blog.
- Location – Thanks to its excellent location, Marbella is a great base when exploring Andalusia. It is in close proximity to cities such as Granada, Seville and Malaga.
- Prestigious properties – celebrities, politicians and businessmen have their homes in Marbella. They have chosen Marbella not only because of all the factors mentioned above, but also because of the luxury properties located in discreet, comfortable and secure complexes, such as La Zagaleta.
- The climate – with more than 300 days of sunshine a year and an excellent microclimate – makes Marbella a great place for a holiday at any time of the year, as well as an ideal place to live here permanently.
- International airport – the close proximity of Málaga’s international airport is quite a convenience for all travellers, from business travellers to tourists holidaying on the Costa del Sol.
- Rich accommodation – Marbella has a perfectly developed residential infrastructure dedicated to tourists. There are luxury hotels (which you can find out more about here), as well as a wide cross-section of flats and villas for short-term rentals.
- Medical care – Marbella residents have access to a full medical infrastructure, in well-organised private and public hospitals.
- Atmosphere – the local community is very welcoming to people from countries other than Spain, and Marbella itself is home to a wide cross-section of nationalities from different parts of Europe and the world. As a result, you will feel at home here in no time.
A tourist phenomenon
Marbella is developing sustainable and responsible tourism of a very high quality and is an example of good practice at European level. This is why it is chosen as a holiday destination and a new place to live by a wide cross-section of people – from digital nomads and businessmen, to sports enthusiasts (especially golf), to those seeking a sunny climate and beautiful beaches.
Increasing recognition in the eyes of citizens from all over the world translates into an increase in tourist traffic and, consequently, an increase in the profitability of investment in luxury properties on the Costa del Sol. Rankings such as the ‘European Best Destination’ provide an additional promotional element for the city and significantly increase interest in the awarded location.
