Are you a seasoned golfer or want to start your adventure in the sport after moving to the Costa del Sol? Or are you planning to buy a property in Spain for rent, attractive all year round? The Costa del Sol, also known as the ‘Costa del Golf’ – is the perfect place to play golf.
Golf courses for the most demanding
Golfers from all over the world flock to the Spanish coast, appreciating not only the excellent sporting infrastructure, but also the climate and delicious cuisine. There are now more than 70 golf courses on the Costa del Sol, putting the area at the forefront of the golf map of Europe. There is a well-developed infrastructure, and the climate is also favourable for outdoor activities, with an average annual temperature of 20 degrees and over 300 days of sunshine a year. This is appreciated by golfers from all over the world, especially from Great Britain, Germany and Scandinavia. I started my golfing adventure right in the Marbella area, after buying a house in Spain.
Due to the varied terrain around Marbella, each golf course is different. Some are particularly popular – at Alcaidesa Golf Links, for example, you can enjoy stunning views of the sea and Africa. Due to the popularity of the sport and the excellent infrastructure, it is worth investing in property in Spain, even if you are not an amateur golfer yourself.
Outdoor entertainment
Golf is a sport through which we significantly reduce stress levels, relax and spend time in nature. You can play alone or with friends – it’s an engaging and engaging game for people of all ages and not, as some people think, “for pensioners”. Clubs offer lessons with a coach, where you learn the basics and learn the key rules. Golf is a great way to spend your free time, a pastime for those who like to compete and have fun.
The game is also a great opportunity for business talks on neutral ground and without the stress that comes with meetings in the office. At golf clubs, you can meet interesting people and make new friends and acquaintances.
The golf season here lasts all year round
Golf is played all year round in Andalusia. The high season runs from the end of September to May, which complements fantastically with the ‘beach’ tourism season, which runs from June to mid-September. Winter is a hindrance to play in most European countries, as the courses are closed during this time, but on the Costa del Sol the season then flourishes. The favourable conditions attract tourists from all over Europe, who appreciate the mild Andalusian winter: it is at least 14 degrees during the day, with temperatures as high as 20 degrees in the sunshine and can drop to 9 degrees at night. These are simply ideal conditions for golf!
Excellent cuisine and attractions also in winter
Due to the many gambling tourists who come to the Costa del Sol in winter, most of the restaurants and clubs that are usually closed in seaside towns during the winter are lively here. So it is an opportunity to discuss games with friends, enjoy Andalusian cuisine and culture, and explore the area.
Investment season
Golf is a very important complement to tourism on the Costa del Sol, as it provides the opportunity to rent a house in Spain during the winter. Golfers also represent a significant market share of potential customers for property purchases in Spain. Properties next to golf courses are a good offer not only for players. Villas and flats overlooking the golf course are surrounded by extra space, and the green carpet of the course adds elegance to the properties.
Golf in Marbella – some information
Greenfee prices for 18 holes, depending on the course and the season, range from €40 to €150 and some more expensive ones up to €400. Courses often offer promotions or discount packages.
Golf courses on the Costa del Sol are open to everyone. There are only a few ‘members only’ clubs such as Las Brisas, Aloha and La Zagaleta, where priority is given to club members. Visitors who are not members of the club can play at designated times or days.
